SOME PERSONAL NOTES. Retrenchment in the Defence staffs is continuing slowly, anti in addition to resignations there are a number of transfers from Canterbury to other cent resist. Grover of the N.Z. Staff Corps, who has 23 years service, is retiring. Ist. Healy, now of Dunedin, and Lt. Quartiy, an ex-imperial man, now of Ashburton, will also retire. Other Christchurch retirements are those of Lts. Sattertliwaite and Leech. Captain A. H- Carrington, of the N.Z Staff Corps, now' stationed at Blenheim, is also to retire. Captain Carrington, who belongs to Christchurch, was at one time in training at Duntroon. Lieut. H- F. W. Mickle, who was adjutant in the Christchurch railway battalion, lias been transferred to Auckland. Sergt.-Major Hoald, formerly wellknown in Christchurch, has been transferred to Palmerston North. Sergt.Majors Stewart (Christchurch), and Milroy (Blenheim), have been transferred to the Central Command, as well as Sergt-Major A. L*. Emerson, of the First Canterbury Regiment. Sergt.Major Dunlevey, of Akaroa, has been transferred to Hamilton.
