Counsel addressed the jury in the Gun Alley murder trial, in which Colin Campbell Ross is charged with murdering; Alma Tirtschke. Mr G. A. Maxwell, who appeared for accused, declared that Ross was a pre judged man. He attacked the characters of the Crown, witnesses. The jury were unable to agree. They were locked up overnight. The Minister of Customs states that five of the twenty-four woods tested at the Forest Products’ laboratory at Perth have been selected as the most likely sources of a supply of paper pulp. Mr Gullett, an emigration officer, in explaining his resignation, attacked Mr Hughes for his hole and corner policy on the immigration proposals.
