Amended regulations, dealing with the extermination of cattle tick, have been gazetted. The Director of the live stock division of the Agricultural Department states that these new regulations will make it possible to control the whole of the north of the North Island. Two areas have been defined—(a) all the territory to the north of a line drawn from Mannkau Harbour to Coromandel, known to be infested, and (b) all the territory south to a line from Kawhia to Cape Runaway, where ticks are occasionally found. Dipping of cattle in the (a) area has been made compulsory, and no cattle will he allowed to leave the area before they have been through an approved dip. No cattle will be allowed to leave the (b) area before a permit is secured from an inspector of stock.
