PRINCESS MARY-

CI FT FROM THE MARYS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, February 23. The Alarys of the Empire have given Princess Mary a beautiful rope of pearls. About £BOOO was subscribed and tho Princess first asked that al! the money be given to a philanthropic object. She then expressed a wish that only a few hundred be spent on jewellery for herself and the rest devoted to the Girl Guides’ movement, particularly to a training camp for the leaders and a hospital camp for girls requiring country rest.. The Princess thus hoped to benefit the movement, extending it to all the Dominions and touching the entire girlhood of the Empire. Owing to the general wishes of the subscribers the organisers spent considerably more upon a personal present than tho Princess suggested. The rope falls to the waist and is made of beautiful pearls of the same size and colour as those iu the shorter necklet, familiar in the photograph of the Princess.
