SEVENTH ROUND RESUMED. Tho seventh round of the Canterbury Cricket Association's competitions -was resumed this afternoon in flue weather, flenlor matches were played at Hagley, Lancaster and Sydenhnm Parks. EAST CHRISTCHURCH t. SYDENHAM. East Christchurch continued their second inning!* against Sydenham at Sydenham Park, Cunningham (8) and Elvey (0) the not out batsmen. facing M’Ewin and M*Beth. The only batsmen to make any show were Howell and Cunningham, and the innings closed for 90. Requiring 3S runs to win. Sydenham opened with M’Beth and Bellamy to the bowling of Howell and Cunningham. Cunningham had 15 runs hit of! hfs first tvrn overs and then gave place to Flood. But the two Sydenham batsmen batted steadily and in nine overs had made the required number of runs, and Sydenham secured a three-point win by ten wickets. Scores:— EAST CHRISTCHURCH. St Albans opened with Woods and North. Evans commencing the attack. His first ball Woods sent for 4. Rix, in his fourth over, sent a slow one down to North, which he hit into Evans’s hands. Martin followed and batted nicely, scoring with good shots all round the wicket, and hitting Evans for a solid "ix. Woods brought 60 up with a boundary shot. NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. The maJUMtement committee of the New See land Cricket Council met last, hight, :>resent —Messrs .T. S. Barrett, J- T. Peake. F. Wilson and E. R. CaygiH. The Nelson Aaaociattfon wrote stating

that North Otago was unable to r>lay for the Hawke Cup. and asking for permission to play Marlborough. The secretary s action in sending such permission was approved. The New Zealand Sports Protection League wrote stating that the Valuation of Land Amendment Act provided that where land was owned or occupied by. or held in trust for any society and used for games or sports the Valuer General should make reduction in the assessment of the capital and unimproved value of the land to tho extent by which, in hi* opinion, the value was reduced by reason or tho limited purposes for which the land could be used. It was decided to call in the Hawke Cup at the end of the season, and discuss the question of having names of winners engraved on it. NORTH v. SOUTH. MATCH TN CHRISTCHURCH. A North v. South cricket match was decided upon at last night's meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council, to be played in Christchurch on March 10, 11 and 13. The Wellington Association telegraphed that it was impossible to use the Basiu Reserve until after March 25. The question of finance was discussed. The chairman (Mr >T. S. Barrett) said ho thought they were in duty bound to arrango the match. There was a considerable feeling in its favour. The opinion seemed general that Wellington was the most desirable venue of the match, hut- after March 25 would be too late in the season. Mr S. F. Wilson said he was sorry there was not a larger meeting to discuss the matter. He was of opinion that the match should be played. Tie moved " That the North v. South match be played on March 10. 11 and 13 in Christchurch. The motion was carried. On the chairman’s motion Mr K. Tucker {Wellington) was appointed selector of tbe North Island team and Mr A. Martin (Dunedin) of the South Island team. VISIT OF ENGLISH TEAM. A letter from A. C. Maclaren was received at last night’s meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council stating that he expected to bring to New Zealand a team equal to any amateur aide that had evei left England. They hoped to leave England in September. The majority of the members belonged to the team which defeated the Australians at Eastbourne. The question of finance was deferred pending a fuller communication from Mi Maclaren.
