The Senate adopted the M’Cormiek * ©solution asking the State Department to furnish the Senate, with information regarding the expenditures, revenues and deficits of European States, also data regarding the cost of land armaments in comparison with deficits, and sums owed to the United States. The Senate Finance Committee favourably reported on the Foreign Debt Refunding Bill, providing for collection of eleven billion dollars loaned to the Allies. The Bill creates a ocmimission of five to arrange brms whereby the debt will be paid. The committee eliminated provisions to which the Treasury objected, namely for semi-annual collection of intere-t and fixing the rate at not. less than the highest rate puid for Liberty bonds- ... The committee will have power to arrange both matters. The measure provides that the bonds mto which the ctebt is convertible shall mature in 1947, when ihe longest Librerty loan matures.
