A committee from disabled American veterans presented President Harding with a r>etition setting forth that mentally disabled veterans were the victims of gro&s neglect, callous indifference, deliberate profiteering and inadequate treatment. The committee charged the Government that it did not jjrovide antr hospital facilities for insane soldiers, hut was farming; out these among various State asylums, which were notoriously overcrowded and inadequately ©quipped to treat and care for them. The committee alleged that carious States are realising that profit would result from the use of makeshifts instead of fully equipped institutions.
