85.7 IN SHADE.
The hottest day of the Summer was registered to-day, when the temperature in the shade at the meterological observatory in the Gardens at noon was 85.7 degrees. “ Nor’-westery ” conditions, with everything except the “nor’-wester,” made the day exceptionally hot, notwithstanding a slight haziness that tempered the bright beat of tho sun.
