WEDDINGS.

RICHARDSON—AFFARLANE. A wedding of much interest was solemnised at St Alary’s, Alerivale, this afternoon, when Alias Audrey Richardson was married to Mr Alec Leslie Al’Farlane. The ceremony was performed by the Yen Archdeacon Haggitt. The church was beautifully decorated. and almost all the seats were occupied by friends and well-wishers of the bridal pair, the wedding party itself being confined to between forty and fifty close friends and relatives. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father. She was wearing a really lovely bridal dress, which was composed of ivory georgette and duchess satin. Both sides were of accordion-pleate.d georgette, the front and back panels being made of beautifully embroidered ivory duchess satin, each panel decorated on either side with a long handsome fall of ivory silk fringe. A narrow swathe sash of satin encircled the waist, and was tied at one side and a plain satin train lined with georgette fell from the shoulders, a. long trail of orange blossom depending from the left side. A coronet of pearls, tied with long streamers of cire riband, was worn on the hair under a plain tulle veil. The bride was attended by Aliss Alary Richardson (Wellington) and two little girls, Patricia Carney and Nora Newton. as bridesmaids. Aliss Alary Richardson’s dress was of pale pink georgette, composed of tinv scalloped frills with dainty pink crocheted edge, jfat on from the bodice to the hem of the skirt, and a dainty belt of narrow blue velvet riband with long streamers. She wore a large hat of pink georgette with trimming of blue velvet riband and bine flowers. The two little girls wore dainty frocks of frilled pink net, the frills bound with satin of a slightly darker shade and belts q,f powder blue velvet riband with long ends. M r reaths of pink and blue flowers- were in their hair, and they carried posies of pale blue delphiniums and pink roses. Mrs Richardson, the bride's mother, wore a handsome dress of amethyst souple satin, with a front panel of georgette embroidered in a deeper shade of violet. a swathed bodice tied at one side in long satin ends falling below the hem of the skirt. Her hat was ol amethyst straw with garniture of French flowers, and upstanding tralle bow at the back. Site carried a posy of pink roses tied with amethyst velvet riband. Airs Al’Farlnne, mother of the bridegroom, wore a beautiful dress of silver grey souple satin, made in one piece, and draped with old black lace; a plain grey satin pane! of the material was arranged at the back from throat to hem. AVith this was worn a black lace having a black osprey, the tips just touched with rust colour. Aiiss Al’Farlane, the bridegroom's sister, had chosen for her frock pink georgette, the bodice ending in the new fashion in a belt at- the waist, the skirt trimmed with rows of hemstitching. A swathea sash of deeper pink georgette was tied at ono side, and she/ wore a hat of black lace, the brim outlined with sequins, a big choux of pink tulle in front. The really beautiful cake in three tiers, made, iced, and decorated by the bride’s mother, Airs Richardson, had an unusual feature in the shape of the model of a monoplane, carried out in detail in icing sugar and suspended above the cake. TTiis was in compliment to Air M’Farlane, who for the greater part of the war had been attached to the Royal Flying Corps. The bride’s going away dro-3* was of navy silk stockingette with girdle of pale blue hcids encircling the waist and falling down tho front in a double string to the hem ; the low round neck was hound with blue of the same shade, and 011 either side the waist in front was a tiny natch of molo fur, while the two side panels of

the stockingette were also bordered j with a narrow band of the same fur. » With it wag worn a hat of fine black } straw, trimmed with a largo choux of : black, tulle bound with delphinium blue cire riband. TOBIN—GARLAND. The wedding took place thi a morning | in the Bur wood Church of Aliss Norah Tobin, second daughter of the Rev C- j A. Tobin and Airs Tobin, the Vicarage, ! Burwood, to Air Heathcote Garland, j second son of Air and Airs J. E. Gar- . land, Hillsborough, Opawa. The 1 chancel was prettily decorated with ■ roses, white iris and arufn lilies. Airs i W. A. Rusk presided at the organ. ) The bride entered the church on the arm of her brother, Air J. O'Hara Tobin, who subsequently gave her , away. She wore a pretty frock of pale primrose georgette, embroidered in blue ' motifs, a streamer of blue georgette j depending from either side of the skirt. The plain tulle veil was bound with blue, and the bouquet of roses, banksia and syringa, was tied with a big bow of blue silk tulle. The three small bridesmaids were dressed alike in flounced skirts of cream net over silk, arid wore wreaths of forget-me-not in their liair. They were Aliss Betty Purchas, niece of the bride, Aliss Alary ; Garland, sister of the bridegroom, and j Aliss Suzanne Barnes, niece of the bridegroom. Air Kenneth Garland, | brother of the bridegroom, was best j man. The ceremony was performed by | the bride’s brother-in-law, the Rev AC. Purchas. The bride’s mother, Airs 'robin,' wore a dress of navy silk stockingette made with a full tunic, and hat of black straw trimmed with green, purple and yellow grapes. Airs Garland, mother of tho bridegroom, was attired in a handsome dress of black souple satin, with black hat and feather. She carried a bouquet of red j roses and maidenhair fern. Among : the guests were Miss Garland, in a white foulard with a black spot and black ribbon sash, and black lace hat; Miss Duthie, a pretty white lace dress, shady hat trimmed with blue ribbon ; Airs Wag staff, grey coat and skirt, and small toque; Miss Nancy AVagstaff, smart frock of tussore, trimmed with blue figured Liberty silk, hat of buff silk straw and coloured flowers;. Mrs Humber, handsome dress of black silk poplin, long coat of black panne, black velvet hat; Aliss Sylvia Hamber, grey coat and skirt, black hat with garniture of roses; Aliss Laura Kent, navy coat and skirt braided in black, handsome feather boa, black hat with tulle bow gold edged; Aliss Georgie Timm- 1 son, dress of blue organdi with white pattern, blue hat with eelaphane bow and yellow rose ; Ai rs Woodroffe, brown china silk,, draped skirt, leghorn hat j with crown of gre<an leather leaves; Airs A. O. Woods, gabardine, eoat and skirt, rose pink hat; Airs Griffin, grey coat and skirt, black lace scarf, black hat with crimson roses ; Aliss Peggy Donald, frock of royal blue stockingette, , black crinoline hat trimmed with yellow daisies; Aliss Cox, coat and skirt of grey i silk, mauve scarf and black hat. The bride’s going away dress was of navy cloth, hat of navy lace straw, trimmed with flowers and fruit. There were over 200 guests. Tea was served in the garden under the trees, which afforded a welcome shelter. BAILEY MAIN; The wedding was solemnised at St John’s Church on November 9 of Aliss Alice Isobel AYain, second daughter of Air and Airs F. W. Wain, Templeton, and Mr Norman Leicester Bailey, only son of Air and Airs Joseph Bailey, also of Templeton. The officiating minister was the Rev Air M'right. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a frock of ivorycrepe de chine, with silver lace and pearl trimmings, the skirt being accor-dion-pleated. She wore an embroidered veil with a circlet of orange blossoms and carried a sheaf of arum lilies and n maidenhair fern. She wore a leghorn hat j trimmed with pink and carried a shower bouquet of cream and pink roses. Alisses Ethel and Constance AYain, sisters of, the bride, wore lemon silk taffeta with cream lace trimmings, finished with I wide blue sashes looped at the side. They each wore leghorn hats, trimmed with forget-me-nots and blue ribbon ! streamers, and carried bouq'uets of pink • roses. The bridegroom was attended by Air Frederick G. AYain as best man. j A reception was afterwards held at The . Rendevous, Mrs AYain receiving her I guests. She was attired in a frock \of black crepe de chine with ninon sleeves and Oriental trimming. Her hat was of black crinoline straw with tulle edging and red roses. Airs Bailey, : the bridegroom’s mother, wore a smart : costume of fawn suiting, with which ; was worn a. black hat trimmed with ! silk. Later the liappy couple left for the North Island on their honeymoon trip, the bride wearing a neat navyserge costume with which was worn a fawn-coloured georgette hat trimmed with French fruit and flowers.
