Mibb Liguori's counsel lias received a letter from the Inspector-General of the Police stating that signed statements had been obtained from all the available witnesses in connection with the recent occurrences. The offence disclosed by these statements is considered to be one of riot. As the occurrences took place several weeks ago, and the evidence of identification, excepting against Josenh Partridge, is not at present of a. conclusive character, it is not intended to institute police proceedings. This decision is also guided Jiy the manifest reluctance of Miss Partridge to giro evidence against her brother. The letter adds that it is competent for any of the aggrieved parties to institute independent prowmdinga on His or her own account.
