At a meeting of the Excelsior Variety Entertainers, held in the Veterans’ Association rooms on Thursday evening, the manager (Mr W. Killick) made a presentation to Mr L. H a Davidson on behalf of the members of the company in recognition of the services rendered by him. Mr Davidson suitably replied. The programme of Mr Purcell Webb’s organ recital to be given in Knox Church to-morrow evening is one which should appeal to music lovers. Mr Webb’s solos will include the celebrated “Storm” (by Lemmons), Mendelssohn’s fourth organ sonata, Morandi’s “ iiell Hondo,” and several lighter pieces. Mr Arthur Gordon, late of the Conservatoire of Lausanne, will play the first movement from Bruch’s second concerto, also the Air on the G String by Bach. Vocal solos “ Nearer My God to Thee ” and “ He Shall Feed His Flock” (Handel), will be sung by Miss Lillian nanham.
