Lord Muir Mackenzie’s Bill to repeal section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1835, was read a first time in the House of Lords. (Lord Muir Mackenzie, in introducing his Bill in the House of Lords, stated that it was for the purpose of repealing the section of tho Act which caused the trouble and to enable any debt payable legally in money to be paid by cheque.)
