PERSONAL.
Air Justice Chapman arrived from the north by to-day’s ferry steamer. Air A. G. Henderson returned from Wellington by the ferry this morning. Air E. Hay, Pigeon Bay, arrived from the north this morning. Air and Airs Charles Ogilvie, who have been spending a month in the North Island, returned to Christchurch to-day 1 Air and Airs Charles Agar returned to Christchurch to-day. Air Agar was a member of tho bowling team which* visited Britain. Air and Airs AY. Easton, of Dunedin, left for the south to-day. Air Easton recently returned from a visit to Honolulu. Mr and Airs J. Bane (Ashburton), who have been spending a holiday at Auckland and Rotorua, went south today by the midday express. Air A. O. Ponder, a son of "Air A. R. Ponder, of Rugby Street, Alerivale, has been appointed lecturer in chemistry at Balliol College, England. Air Ponder was the New Zealand Rhodes Scholar for 1916, hut, as ho was then at the war, he was unable to take up his studies in England until after the war was ended. During the last two years he has been a student at Balliol College, and has just recently concluded a trip to Germany and Austria, where he continued his studies.
