Ihe Senate has appointed a. committee to investigate sensational charges made by Senator Watson that American soldiers in France were hanged without a court-martial, and shot by officers and inhumanly treated in many ways. Senator Watson said he had photographs of gallows on which twenty-one soldiers were executed. He offered to produce witnesses if they were guaranteed an indemnity. oenator Bor ah produced photographs showing several soldiers hanging from a scaffoldSenator Watson declared that privates were frequently shot by officers because of complaints against the latte rs’ insolence. Others were Imaged without a trial of any sort.
