SLUR ON CANTERBURY.
♦ AN EXHIBIT TAMPERED WITH. (Special to the “ Star.”) WELLINGTON. November 2. An unpleasant incident in connection with the exhibit of Canterbury madenails at the Wellington Industrial Exhibition has been reported to the chairman of the Board of Trade by Mr W. J. Jenkins, president of the Canterbury Industrial Association. He states that there was an exhibit of Canterbury made nails, but some time during Saturday afternoon or evening some of the spaces were partly cleared and imported nails* put in their place. This, says Mr Jenkins, must have been a deliberate act from the fact that the imported nail was substituted, and the man who did it would have had no other object than to either discredit the maker or the goods ho produced, an numbers were of poor quality, and w ere also bent.
