SECONDARY SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIP. ~t meetiut- of the Christf-huroh Sports Club was held last night to receive end consider a report from the representatives of the secondary schools in connection with tne carrying out of a secondary schools’ boxing championship. Dr W. Simpson (president) presided, and tne following schools’ representatives were presentDr Hansen and Mr C. J. GoMetone (Christchurch Technical High School), d - Baylvjjtt (St Andrew’s College) and Arnott 'Boys’ High School). Mr Bay butt stated that at a meeting of head masters of secondary schoolo recently hela, it, was suggested that a schools boring tournament should be held towards the end of the year. It was desired that no trophies should be presented. The schools Lhat would be represented at the comoetition were the Boys’ High .School, OUrlet's College, St Bede's College and St Andrew’s College. Dr Hansen said that the Technical High School had quite a strong team, which they were prepared to enter for such, a competition. Mr Moyle said he was in favour of the secondary schools controlling their own courn ament. Ifc decided, on (be motion of Major Row, that the representatives of the secondary schools, together with the president and secretary of ‘he Christchurch nporta Club, be a committee to organise and make arrangements for a secondary schools boxing competition, to be held before November 50. It was decided that the competition, should be known as the Christchurch 3eo- °^ ai 7 School Boxing Championships. The meeting then concluded, the members of tee committee which had just been set up remaining to discuss details. It was decided that the competition* should be held either on November 9 or 16, subject to those dates being satisfactory. The weights were fixed as follows Flyweight, 6st 101 b: bantams. 7e? IC'lb; featherweight, Bst lhlb; light-weight. 9st 101b-middle-weight, lost I01b; heavy-weight an” weight above lOst 101 b. Each school is to be allowed to nominate one competitor for each event. Bouts are to be drawn on The Monday preceding the competitions. The rounds were fixed at three two-minute rounds, eight-ounce gloves to be used. Officials were elected as followßeferee. Mr T. E. Robson; judges. Major Row and Mr C. T. Aschman; timekeepers, Messrs R. Bennett and W. Drake; announcer, Mr J. D. Baybutt. The appointment cf four official seconds was left to the Christchurch Sports Club.
