WEDDINGS.

WOODHOU SE—R HODES. The wedding of 3liss Airini Rhodes, daughter of the late 3lr R. H. Rhodes and Airs Rhodes, Bluecliffs, to Dr Randal Woodhouse, D. 5.0., 31. C., of Wellington, took placo yesterday at St Mary’s Church, Upper Otaio, the Rev E. K. Alules, assisted by Archdeacon Jacob, officiating. The bride wore creani georgette with lace overdress and court train. Tho veil, belonging to the bridegroom’s mother, was caught .with orange blossom. Sho carried a sheaf of arum lilies. Tho bridesmaids, Alisses Alison Johnston, Denderah Rhodes, Nancy Orbell, June Or hell and Cecil El worthy, were dressed alike in flounced primrose silk, with wreaths of ribbon and wallflowers, and wallflower posies. The church had been beautifully decorated by 3lrs Percy Elworthy. 3lrs Rhodes wore a dress of black and violet, with radium silver embroidery and black hat. The best man was Mr Clifton Robinson. Tlie bride was given away by her uncle, 3lr Arthur Rhodes, of Christchurch. A wedding under somewhat unusual circumstances took place on "Wednesday, when Aliss Alary Clephane, of Touraatu, Lceston, was married to 3lr Eric M’ Gill, of Lees ton. All arrangements had been made for tlie ceremony to take place at Sb Paul’s, Casliel Street, and the brido and bridegroom and party arrived in Christchurch on 3londay morning to fulfil the Required three days’ residence. However, three days are not three clear days, and la to on Tuesday night, it was found that no marriage could take place at St Paul's, so the party motored to Leestotn. early on Wednesday morning and were married by the Rev E. W. Walker, in St. David’s Church. They returned to Christchurch only a few minutes later than the arranged time, and entering St Paul’s, tfie Rev J. Patterson conducted a very beautiful little service. 31 r and 3lrs George Clephane entertained a large number of guests in Sb Paul’s Schoolroom. 31 rs Clephane wearing a handsome black silk costume and smart hat. The brido looked charming in an accordion-pleated frock of white crepe do chine, her veil being worn mob-cap style, wreathed with orange blossoms. Sho carried a bouquet of spring flowers. The bridesmaids were Aliss Georgina Clephane, who wore mauve crepe de chine, and Nessie M’Gill in primrose, Jean Timms and Dorothy Clephane in while crepe do chine. Tho best man was 3lr Arnold Tobe, and 31 r Jack Russell was groomsman. The Rev J. Paterson, in proposing the health of. the happy couple, n%cte those present very merry by relating some amusing anecdotes of other marriages in .the backbloeks of Australia, where much more serious adventures took Mace than the small mistake in connection with the day’s ceremony. A wedding has been arranged and will shortly take place between Alariaime, only daughter of the late Dr William Affleck Scott, of Blantyrc, East Africa, and Airs Affleck Scott, of New Abbey, Dumfries, Scotland, and Lieutenant Hugh B. Anderson (Royal Navy), youngest son of 3lr and Mrs Andrew Anderson, 3lcrchiston, St Alartins. As Miss Scott is arriving at Auckland by the Remuera, tlie wedding will be quietly celebrated at Whangarei from the house of 31 rs H. T. Ferrar, Lieutenant Anderson’s sister. 31 rs Andrew Anderson and Aliss Anderson are already at Whangarei, and 3lr Anderson and Lieutenant Anderson will leave early next week for Auckland.
