A violent two days’ thunderstorm of unexampled severity caused incalculable damage and considerable loss of life and hundreds of accidents. Many people were drowned in their homes in the lower parts of Lisbon, where the people weu*> also washed into the sewers and drowned. The hcsptals are full of hopeless cases.
