ELECTORAL DISTRICTS.

ALTERING THE BOUNDARIES. (Per Press AssociationJ WELLINGTON, August 5. | Tho duty of the representation commissioners when they receive detailed results of tho last census will be to decide the population quota which shall be necessary to constitute an electoral district. This quota will be ascertained by dividing the population of New Zealand, with 28 per cent added to that in rural areas, by the number of European members (76). With the quota ascertained, the North and South Island commissioners will meet separately and fix the boundaries of the districts. It is anticipated that on this occasion the North Island will gain two seats at the expense of the South. Tho work of tho commissioners is bound to take some months. 4 After the boundaries arc published, objections to them may he made. The new districts will be the basis of representation for the Parliament to bo elected next year.
