Private advices have been received :n Christchurch that the dispute at the Linton coal mine, near Nightcaps, Southland, has been satisfactorily settled, and that the miners are now back at -work. The dispute arose over the men’s refusal to fork the coal so as to separate the lumps from the slack. They were told that if they would not fork the coal the mine would be closed down. The men adhered to their decision, and, in consequence, tho mine has been closed down for tho past five weeks. Supplies are now, however. coming to hand again.
