MAGNIFICENT BULLOCKS.
A PRIZE OF £5 WILL BE DON ATED BY DIXON BROS. HELP DR THACKER’S COAL AND BLANKET FUND. In the right-of-way adjoining the Cashel Street shop are penned two magnificent fat bullocks, purchased by Messrs Dixon Bros., Cash Butchers, 103, Cashel Street. One of the bullocks was bought from Mr M. C. Nordquist, of Methven, for the big price of £7O, this is easily' tlie top price of the year. The other bullock was purchased from Messrs Hedley Bros., Seadown near Timaru, for £SO; this is the fattest animal seen this year. During Friday and Saturday this week, and Monday and Tuesday next week, these two immense beasts will be on public view. Anyone guessing the dead weight j of the two bullocks will get a cash prize of £5 donated by Dixon Bros. The entrance fee for the guessing competition will be one shilling, the entire proceeds of which will go to Dr Thacker’s Coal and Blanket Fund. Don’t fail to try' your luck, and remember the bullocks will only be on view during Friday and Saturday of this week, and Monday and Tuesday of next week ! ’ At the end of that time the bullocks | will be killed, and their dead weight j will be taken under the supervision* of ‘ the Mayor and Town Clerk. Dixon [ Bros, will advertise the combined dead-weight of the two bodies in the “Sun” on Friday, August 12, and the 46 Lyttelton Times ” and Christchurch 44 Press ” on Saturday, August 13. The prize of £5 donated by Dixon Bros, will be handed over to the competitor guessing the nearest or exact weight. A hearty invitation is extended to the Christchurch public and visitors to inspect the carcases of these hugo beasts, and also the display of choice meat. - 345
