The Island steamer Tofua is announced to Bail from Auckland on August 20 for Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa. The Union Company advises that the intercolonial steamer Manuka left Sydney at noon on Thursday with 167 passengers for Wellington. She is due there on Monday, and is timed to sail at noon on Tuesday on the return trip to Sydney. The Wingatui is due at Wellington from' Auckland to-morrow. From Wellington the vessel will proceed to Dunedin, thence Timaru and Lyttelton. The Kokiri, which left Lyttelton on Wednesday for Timaru, is due at Wellington to-day. She is expected to leave Wellington for Westport and Greymouth on Monday. The Opihi, at present discharging hardwood from Newcastle, is expected to leave with general cargo for Auckland towurds the end of next week. The Calm will leave Lyttelton to-day for Dunedin, where she will load for Wanganui, calling at Timaru and Lyttelton on her way north. The West Hepburn will be dispatched for Dunedin this morning. The Somerset is timed to sail for Wellington this afternoon. The auxiliary schooner Zita will be die patched this morning for Wellington. The Earu is expected to proceed to Port Chalmers to-day. The Waimarino is expected to leave Lyttel’on on Wednesday for Newcastle. Captain A. T. Norton arrived by yesterday’s ferry steamer to take command of the Waimarino, vice Captain Hill, who proceeds to Sydney on holiday. The Wanaka will now leave for Sydney on Wednesday. An exceptionally rough trip from the Chatham* was experienced by the steamer Rama, which reached here this morning. Owing to heavy southerly galea at tho islands, the Rama was unable to load her full cargo of neh. and left behind Beveral passengers.' The starboard cable parted while at Waitangi. The vessel left Hangar oa at three o'clock on Sunday afternoon, in a strong north-westerly gale. The boat began to roll, and pitched heavily. Similar conditions prevailed next day, and then the gale increased to a huricane. On Thursday, at 12.45 a.m., the Co&tl ©point light was sighted. The master sought shelter at Te Awaiti. and. with two anchors out, rode out tho hurricane. At 4.30 tho Rama continued her voyage to Wellington.
