- THE METROPOLITAN MARKET. TO-DAY’S SALE. Except for fat cattle the entries at the metropolitan market at Addington , were small. The freezing works hvnAg closed and the season for fat over the small number of fat hoggets en tered were sold in the fat sheep pen-. Mutton prices were firm. STORE SHEEP. The number of store sheep entered was the smallest for a long time. There V " exceptionally good market for first-class e . said good wethers also sold well. FAT CATTLE. The entry at the start was 450 head, a large proportion being prime steers. . Bidding opened slack, except for the primeet, which maintained late rates. Wills (Teddington), 7 steers at £32 to £ls ss. 2 heifers at £9 10s to £ll 12s Gd; D. Stewart (Albury), steer at £ls os; clients, steer at £lO, 4 cows at £5 15s to £8 17s 6d; L. Guernay (Le Eon’s Bay), 7 cows at £5 15a to £9 10s; client, 2 steers at £2O and £24; C. H. Ensor (St James), 5 heifers at £9 5s to £l2 16s, 2 steers at £l4 10s; J. A small entry of veal calves was forward. There was a good demand, a really good sale resulting. Values were: Runners to £6 10s. Good veal era £4 to £4 17s 6d. Medium vealers £2 12s 6d to £S 17s 6d. Small vealers £1 to £2 10s. FAT PIGS. A larger entry of fat pigs was forward and the demand was fairly keen. Prices were about on a par with late rates. Values Choppers £5 to £lO 7s Gd. Light baconers £4 15s to £5 10s. Heavy baconers £5 15s to £6 10s. Extra heavy baconers to £7 7s Gd. Average price per lb B£d to tijd. Light porkers £2 15s to £3. Heavy porkers £3 5s to £4. Average price per lb 9sd to lOd.
