THE CITY BY-ELECTION.
MR AGAR’S RE-NQMI NATION MR BEANLAND WILL NOT STAND. Air J. AA\ Beanland stated to-day that having given his word that he would not stand for the city by-elec-tion if ex-Councillor C. P- Agar consented to re-nomination, he had decided not to stand. It is understood that Air Beanland’s decision is dictated to a large extent hv his anxiety not to involve the city in the expense of an election. Nominations for the seat will close on Thursday.
