In 1838, the first regular steamboat service across the Atlantic was established, the voyage occupying seventeen days. The first steamboat had been launched twenty-six years previously. Nearlv n quarter of a ton of tulips cut in Holland early in the morning were brought by aeroplane from Amsterdam to London, and ther sent byrail to Manchester, where '.were sold the next day. _ «*• A State contribution 20,000 kroner towards the cost o, dishing the Danish edition of the cdP vtion of Greenland folk-songs, legeriL j. and fairy tales, has been approved by tho Danish Government.
