FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL BALL. The Art Gallery was a charming place last evening when tho decorations quite surpassed, any seen in a Christchurch ballroom for some timeThe occasion was the annual ball oi the employees of the Farmers’ Co-operative Association, which proved a thoroughly delightful, affair, a cheery atmosphere pervading tho function throughout. Tho colour scheme was most artistic. Round the walls, thrown into relief against a black back-ground, interspersed with mirrors, were large butterfly bows of pale pink and mauve paper. Overhead, interlaced so as to completely cover the ceiling, were festoons of pale pink, mauve and white, and hanging baskets of wistaria, the whole being shaded with rose coloured lights .which radiated a bright glow over the scene. In the portion of the permanent gallery which formed the lounge, palms, ferns, and wattle were used, and overhead, suspended by deep yellow hangings, were baskets of wattle. The dance music was supplied by the increasingly popular Jazz Orchestra under the leadership of Aliss Alacrdonald, who has added some very now and attractive music to her repertoire. The committee who arranged the ball so competently were Alisses Varrie, Allen, Hanna, Pearce, Giles and Gee; Alessrs Veitch, Dunstan, Butler, Guy, Erasmuson, Dix, Broone, Al’Gee, AVansborough and Donohue . The secretary was Air F. Nevin and the Alasters of Ceremony were Alessrs Guy, Dunstan Erasmuson and Al’Gee. A large, number of the staff as well as the heads of the T'arious departments were present. Air and Airs A. AY. Jamieson ■were there, the latter wearing a handsome black satin gown. Air Shipley was present with Aliss Shipley, Aliss Shipley wearing a rose pink frilled frock. Amongst others present were Airs Dunstan who wore a striking gown of henna coloured ninon. Aliss Hanna, modist panniered gown of black chiffon taffeta and jade green taffeta, trimmed with silver, jade and rose pink flowers. Aliss Ritchie, gracefully falling gown of black ninon outlined with jet, mounted on charmeuse; ATiss Ford, flame souple satin with trails of rose buds outlining the tunic. Aliss Ealvey, cream crepe de chine relieved with gold. Aliss Durry. smart rose pink net frock over silk. Aliss C. M’Tveiizie, royal blue satin. Aliss T. Birch, emerald green satin, relieved with gold tissue. Aliss H- Craig, black silk veiled in net, a deep red rose at corsage relieving it; , Aliss Thelma Gelling, black net with an overdress of sequins; Aliss Alyrtle Pearce, becoming frock of ciel blue satin ; Miss AI. Hopkinson, black satin draped frock, the ninon corsage being embroidered in blue heads. Aliss Varrie, pale pink crepe de chine and gold tissue ; Mrs Butler, smart gown combining silver tissue and black satin charmingly adorned with trails of French flowers • Aliss E. Courtney, salmon pink satin draped frock; Aliss Dyer, gold tissue frock draped with black silk net; Aliss Elder. apricot panne velvet and ninon; Aliss Duke, dainty powder blue crepe de chine frock relieved with touches of pirik ; Aliss J. Burr, smoke grey georgette embroidered in pink; Airs AY. O. S. Adams, very dainty frock of white frilled georgette edged with pink chiffon rosebuds ; Airs Leslie Aleredith-Kaye, vieux rose crepe de chine and gold lace Aliss Elsie Flanagan, maize coloured velvet frock; Aliss AI.- Edging!on, -Iraarfc bunchy frock of eky blue shot .taffeta. Hart.mont, cameo pink ninon and satin; Aliss Giles, peacock blue satin charmeuse with a girdle of gold tinted leaves.
