(Received June 18, 0.10 a.m.) LONDON, June 16 Tn the afternoon, when Hampshire's first innings was continued, the attendance had. increased to seven thousand. Mailev and M.’Donald were put on after Mead had reached 50 in forty-five minutes, and bo was successively caught off a no-ball and missed by Bardsley. It was a very hot chance high up. Bardsley was given a rest, from the outfield in this match, owing to a slight injury to his thigh. Forty were added in twenty minutes, and 200 were hoisted in 140 minutes. Mead then being 94. Hosie was dismissed by Ryder after having played a nlucky and confident innings of 41 —four for 251. The partnership had lasted sixty-five minutes. Tennyson was caught in the same over, when he bad only made a single, from a very tame return.
