Charges of having undertaken to tell fortunes, brought against Sarah Taylor Coventry, Harriet OouplancJ and Katherine Stanton, were read to-day for the second time in the Magistrate’s Court. Mr W. Cracroft Wilson, instructed by Mr W. F. Tracey, applied for an adjournment, as counsel were engaged in the Supreme Court. SeniorSergeant Kelly said that he would agree if an understanding were entered into that the defendants would not engage in “ fortune telling ” in the meantime. The cases were adjourned until Tuesday. Mr G. G. Denniston, who has been appointed secretary of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association, is a son of Mr G. L- Denniston. Dunedin. H© was educated at the Otago Boys’ High School. He was with the Bank of New Zealand and Messrs Park and Reynolds, Dunedin, and served durfng the period of the war and on returning to New Zealand he joined Messrs Harcourt and Co., Wellington, and. later, the staff of Messrs Tonks, Norton and Co.. Chrifetchurch, with whom he is now engaged.
