•'STAR” SPECIAL FOREOAST The forecast is of weatßW conditions which may be expected to prevail during a period of twentytour hours from 2.80 p.m. daily. CANTERBURY FORECAST. Wind.—Fresh south and south-east. Weather continue cold, with further rain. "Rivers rising. Snow in back country. F. L. WOOLES. GOVERNMENT FORECAST. Wind.—Northerly, strong to gale, backing by west to south. Weather.—Oloudly to overcast. Heavy rain. Snow on high country. Rivers rising. Barometer. Falling tendency. The Dominion meteorologist advises that there are indications of a storm arriving from the south-east, bringing heavy rain, and snow on the higher levels. MORE HEAVY RAIN. Rain commenced to fall again after midnight and heavy showers fell during the early morning. The downpour continued with only slight slacking off during the forenoon, and there was very heavy rain after "noon. Up to 9-30 this morning O.oooiu was registered at the < >K-*ei'vatory. and from 9.30 to noon 0.360 in fell, making 0.915 in. or nearly 4 an inch for tho twelve hours.
