“UNSATISFACTORY AND SUSPICIOUS.” A BANKRUPT’S APPLICATION. “ This is an unsatisfactory state of affairs: it is most suspicious,” his Honor Mr Justice Herdraan said to-day when he was hearing an application, in the Supreme Court in Bankruptcy, for the discharge of Charles Edward North, bankrupt, previously a partner in tho North-Show Company. Tho application was made by Mr O. S. Thomas on behalf of the bankrupt. His Honor, when lie made the remarks, had just finished reading a report on th© case by the Official Assignee (Mr A. W. Eames), who was represented by Air A. T. Donnelly (Crown Prosecutor). Air Thomas said that he had seen the Official Assignee’s report only a few minutes previously. He was surI>rised at statements in it. His Honor referred to a reference in the report to the sum of £400,, and to bankrupt having sold trotting horses. Air Thomas said that at the time referred to by his Honor, there was no suspicion of bankruptcy. Shaw had been sentenced by liis Honor to six months’ imprisonment, hut as far as North was concerned, the partnership was absolutely financial and proper in all respects. His Honor : I don’t propose to make an order for this man’s discharge without; further investigation.
