TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Will you find space in your paper for the enclosed letter received Ly me from the late Mr Will Crooks some years ago, when I had only been in the Dominion a few months. What :i man England has lost in Mr Crooks, and one that will be hard to replace. Everyone, rich and poor, that knew him was proud of him. 1 was at one of his meetings about thirty years ago when the men Avere. dissatisfied with their wages, etc.. and ho told us: No strikes, boys: think of your ivives and children. 1 will settle your grievance, *’ which ho always did. He would always tell us : “Your Queen and country, like my own, should be your first thought.” 1 can recollect when Mr Sod do n died the words Mr Crooks said were : “ M hat a loss New Zealand lias suffered.” Like myself, he put his Queen, and country first, and 1 trust my old friends still in Hounslow and Ihvickenham. Middlesex, will place a wreath on his grave in my name, as I am too far away to do it myself.
