HeaT rain fell in the. night, and the wicket ’Ming drenched, a start waa not mode till I.4HT p.m. A section of the crowd made an angev demonstration against tbe delay, and demanded tho return of their money. It took seventy-five minutes to dispose of the remaining two Yorkshire wickets. Robinson gave a display of ■watchful batting. The board showed 200 after 817 minutes. Tho ninth wicket fell at 203, and Hendry secured the last ftt 224. In their second innings the Australians forced the pace, and rattled up seventy-seven, despite quick bowling changes. The ball was cutting up the wicket, and «. piece of turf flew into Ryder’s eye, causing a delay. H© was dismissed at 15 by a spectacular bit of work by Waddingbon, who turned a somersault in making a difficult catch. Ba-rdsley was taken at mid on, the second wicket falling nt 57. Andrews had three esoapea of being caught, and taking advantage of Rhodes and Macaulay being unable to maintain 8. good, length, he indul—d in hard hitting nnd driving. During the’evening the chairman presented the North Canterbury Cricket Association’s cup to the club Wkheart received the cup on behalf of the team.
