The reference to the improved accommodation provided by the 'Wairnairi County Council for report-era attending tlie council meetings, hardly did justice to the County Council. The new and

commodious table was provided by the Oountv Council o.f its own motion, Councillor C. E. Cross being the moving spirit in the matter, and with one of tho reporters, selecting the table. The following resolution further explains 'the position:—“That the members of the Christchurch Journalists 5 Union desire to convey to the chairman and members of tho Waimairi County Council their thanks for the 'attention paid by the council to the comfort of reporters attending the meetings of the council by providing adequate table accommodation. The union especially desires to record its appreciation of the fact that the council provided this accommodation of its own motion, this being a matter that usually receive* but scant attention from local bodies and from those connected with important public movements for which newspaper publicity is desired.”
