AIRCRAFT DEFENCE ESSAYS.

THREE PRIZES OFFERED. An essay competition on " The Use of Aircraft in the Defence of New Zealand " is announced in an overleader advertisement in the “ Star " to-day. Mr H. F. Wigram, chairman of directors of the Canterbury (N.Z.) Aviation Company, offers prizes of twenty guineas, six guineas and four guineas for the best three essays, which will be judged by a committee approved of bj’ the Hon Sir Heaton Rhodes, Minister of Defence. Tho essavs must reach Mr Wigram not later than Mav 31. They should not exceed about 5000 words in length and they should be clearly written or tvped on one side of the paper only. Each essay must bo signed by a nom do plume, and be accompanied by a sealed envelope marked on the outside with the nom de plume and containing the full name and address of the author.
