THE AIR MAIL.
TO-DAY'S .JOURNEY. VISIBILITY EXCELLENT. Captain F. W. Crawford was in charge of the machine carrying mail to Timaru to-day. He left Christchurch at 8.12 a.m., arriving at Timaru at 9.27 a.m., from Timaru at 11.57 a.m., and arriving at Christchurch at 1.35 p.m. His times were;— OUT. Christchurch depart— B.l2 a m. Ashburton arrive—B.4s a.ru. Ashburton depart—B.so a.m. 'Timaru arrive—9.27 a.m. HOME. Timaru depart—3l.s7 a.m. Ashburton arrive—l2.4o p.m. Ashburton depart—l2.4s p.m. Christchurch arrive—l.3s p.m. On the journey down there was a fresh following wind, hut- the machine met a head wind on the home trip. Captain Crawford states that the visibility was excellent. Mount Cook fceinc' verv clear from Hinds. A good glimpse of the Port Hills, was seen from Timaru. There was the usual amount of mail matter and two passengers made the trip from Ashburton to Christchurch.
