Messrs F. and R. Green, of Christchurch. arc paying a visit to Sydney. Mr T- Y. Scddon. 51. P., arrived from "Wellington yesterday and went through to tlie "West Coast. Air A. B- Tench, St. Martins, Opawa. who has been on a visit to America, the United Kingdom, and the battlefields of France, returned by the -Manuka last Sergeant O. W. Tonkinson, of the Christchurch Police Force. who has been in the city for about two years, lias received notice of transfer to Invercargill. and will leave ior the south about the end of the month. A vote of svmpathv with the relatives of the late Mr AY. Chapman, and also with Air G. Payne on the death of his eldest son. was carried in silence at last evening’s meeting of the council of the Canterbury Automobile Association. A recent paragraph in the newspapers announcing the resignation of Dr A. Foster f rom the lion gravy staff of the Christchurch Hospital, has given the impression that Dr Foster has left Christchurch. He will not leave till the middle of April next. A resolution ot sympathy with Mr G. P. Payne, on the death of his son. Norman. was carried in silence by the Alanagement Committee ol the Canterbury Rugby Union at its meeting last evening. Consequent on Llic resignation of Air H. H' Neale- secretary of tho Canterburv Rugby Union, owing to lus leavino- tlu* province, the Management Committee of the union met last night to appoint- a new secretary. 'lhe eleven applications received for the position were considered in committee, and subsequently it was announced that Mr -I ■ <). M’Gillivray had been appointed to tlie position. Dr John AY. Crawsbaw. who has heen practising in Kaiapoi for the past eighteen ’rears, is leaving the district. He will, he succeeded by Dr Maxwell Ramsay, of Dunedin. Mr G. A. ICissling, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Kaiapoi. has received notice of liis transfer to the manajss-ment of the Newton branch of die Bank of New Zealand, Auckland City. At the monthly meeting of the Ashburton High School Board of Governors. Mr TL Galbraith was elected chairman |in succession to the late Air Joshua Tucker. Mr IP. N. Bundle (Otago Swimming Association) and Mr L. S. Gibson (Otago Kennel Club), presidents of twq sports bodies that helped to make Dnn- | edin’s Carnival Week so successful, are ex-Christchurch hoys who wore chums i at- West Christchurch School, and re- { reived their education together under j the late Mr T.
