AMATEUR DEFINITION.
THE SYDNEY CONFERENCE. By Telospapb--Press Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received February 16 1 1 .55 a.m.) SYDNEY, February 16. It was announced at a meeting of spurring bodies that nine organisations had accepted and live had rejected the amateur definition drawn up by representatives of all sports bodies. It was decided to recommend the Sports Federation to adopt the definition. At the conference oil October 29 the most important decision was the amendment of the following clause-: "An amateur cannot he a memlier of any association and (or) club which controls or purports to control any athletic exercise or a combination, of athletic exercises, the council and (or) committee of management, control, or direction of which association and (or) club are not composed entirely of amateurs within the meaning of this definition-” The deletion of the words “and (or) club” in line two, was carried by 12 to 11.
