SMOKERS’ SEATS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—-Travelling home yesterday by tram-car, I was forcibly struck with the number of women passengers occupying smokers’ seats. Out of the eight seats, seven were taken by women. Twelve o’clock struck, and a dozen breadwinners, who would have welcomed a seatand a pipe, were forced to file into the cabin. This is not one occasion, but is repeatedly happening. In my opinion these seats, which are “smokers’ seats,” should be reserved for smokers. A 'business man’s car might be run with success—anything to avoid the crowd of women who rush home on tho stroke of twelve with a pound of sausages. Perhaps “One who has Travelled.” being an authority on men and manners re tramcars, might explain.—l am, etc. Xo. 9.
