SOUTH ISLAND MOTOR UNION.
A meeting of the Executive Committee cf the South Island Motor Union raa held last evening, Mr P. W. Johnston presiding. Mr J. S Hawkea reported that u Motor i Club had been formed at Invercargill, and I that it would probably join the union before long, with a membership of 500 or 600. The Prime Minister wrote, slating that th*r Department’s officer:} were inquiring into the suggestion that safety sidings should be provided at level crossings. The Minister of Internal Affairs wrote, stating that suggestions made by the union in connection with vehicular traffic regulation and the formation of boards of control for building arterial roads, would be considered during the recess when Bills were being drafted Consideration of a proposal from the Otago Motor Club for the control of traffic or. cross roads was referred to the conference of representatives of the New Zealand and South Island Unions.
