DISCUSS FOREST POLICY. [Per Press Association.j AVELLTNGTOX, January 21. Dominion sawmillers have been considering a statement of forest policy submitted by Sir F. D. Bell, and while suggesting some variations in the matter of detail, have declared their willingness to co-operate with the Government. In a long document, the ideas of the Department are fully set out on the basis of ample timber supplies at a reasonable price, the protection and maintenance of productive forests on nou-agricuitural areas, and the transference to forest management of all forests where water, climate and public health are dependent on them. The results hoped for are set out as continued supplies, adequate protection of all water supply sources, utilisation of forest soils, the closest use of all forest resources, and the stability of the timber industry.
