OFFER TO SIR GORDON HEV,'ART. LONDON, January 10. Sir Gordon Hewart (Attorney-Gen- 1 oral) has been offered the post of Lord Chief Justice, but a section of the C-abi- f net urges him to remain in the House of Commons, where he lias become a considerable force. Moreover, his • services are required in connection with Government war contracts, involving many millions of pounds. Sir Gordon Hewart’s intention is, however, to accept the offer.
