A Press Association message states that Leonard Gordon Davis pleaded guilty at the Dunedin City Police Court yesterday to a charge of bookniaking. Accused : is about twenty years of age and has been engaged-as a hotel porter. He admitted making a double chart and a fifie of £SO was imposed by ‘Mr H. Y. WiddowßOn, S-M. During last night the offices of the Lower Hutt Borough Council were broken into and a sum of £340 removed, states Press Association telegram. An entrance. to the building was gained by breaking through the front door. The safe from which the money was taken was, however, "’evidently . opened with keys v'hich were lost a few days ago. Apart from the removal of the'money, papers and document? in the office were taken.
