THE TRAMWAYS.
REPLACING THE TRACKS IN CATHEDRAL SQUARE. The gang of men who began work on replacing tho tramway lines in Cathedral Square at 4 ri.m. to-day agreed to continue in the afternoon, instead of stopping at- noon. By Urn. arrangement, it is expected, work will be sufficiently advanced to enable ears on the Fapanui, St Albans. Hills and railway station lines to pass through the S<i« re to-morrow morning. This will avoid-jtho inconvenience to through passengers of getting out oi one car and getting into another. Cars at i>re- ■ sent will not go in front of the shelter, j but will go round vest of the shelter. Cars that come in from the Paonnoi I and St Albans lines v.*ill sliuniel ! in Colombo Street, near Gloucester Street, from the eastern lino to the western line, and tluough passengers in them will have, to sit_ in the cars until the shunting operations are finished. The replacing work is taking longer ! than was expected, and trenches in tho j Square may be open all this week. j
