SHIPPING NOTES. The auxiliary schooner Huia should arrive here from Melbourne, via Dunedin, this morning to discharge a quantity of explosives. The Wakalu arrived from 'Wellington, via Kiukor.ra, last evening. She is expected to leave on the return trip to-morrow. The Ngntoro left laat night for Timaru, where she will complete discharging her cement cargo from Whangarei. , -^ lO Calm arrived from Wellington yesterday afternoon, and will sail for Duuedin today. It is reported that Chinese capitalists of Hong Ivong and Shanghai Lave combined forces with a total _ capital of £400,000, to organise the China-Amorican Steamship Company with a view to establishing a monthly freight service between th« Orient and_ the Pacific ports of Mexico. The first railing from Hong Kong will be this month. I'or the first time since the outbreak of war, statistics relating to shipping traffic at Hamburg have been published. During the month of September, incoming vessels aggregated 47,205 net tons, compared with 151.859 in September, 1319, and 1,246,556 in 1913. Since the beginning o[ the year vessels registering 2,904,012 net tons Lave arrived at the port of Hamburg, against 072,473 in 1019, and 10,399,451 from January to- September inclusive, 1913.
