RETIRING BANK MANAGER.

MR W-E. BARTON ENTERTAINED. , W. E. Barton, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Rangiora is retiring at the end of the present month, after being in the service of the bank for forty-throe years, tho last fourteen of pdiicli httvo been spent in Rangiora. Last evening forty of his friends entertained him at a complimentary dinner at the Junction Hotel, Rangiora. Mr H, C. D. van As eh occupied tho chair, and Dr T. A. Will was vice-chairman

Several other toasts were honoured, and a welcome was extended to Mr J. M. Daw 'son, Mr Brirton*s Songs and elocutionary items by Messrs 11. Malcolm, ,T. E, Strachnn and W. C. Prosser added to the pleasure of the gathering.
