Rifleman D. J. Gurney, of 'the Petoiio Rifle Club,- who is among the team chosen to represent Now Zealand in Australia, commenced his shooting career when in Gliristchurch Boyi? ■High School Cadets, and showed considerable promise as ‘ a marksman. Later' he shot particularly well with the Christchurch Defence Rifle Club. Following upon the signing of the armistice, Rifleman Gumey, who was on active service, waa selected to compete at Bisley with the New Zealand loam. During his association with the Petone Club Tie won the championship at the Wairarapa meeting, took fourth at the Dominion meeting, and secured honours at three minor meetings.
