RUGBY UNION'S SMOKE CONCERT. , PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. Tho Canterbury Rugby Union's smoke concert was held on Saturday evening, when trophies were presented to the winning teams, there was an attendance of over two huna™llt n n thlrty , offi - clals - P la >’ ers and friends. The success of the Mtarist Brothers’ senior team had been we!l earned and the club had established a line record. Lyttelton had played really well in the junior competition. The Boys’ High hchool had secured the third grade championship, and everyone in Christchurch hoped they would win the Moaacar Cup. It was hoped that Eugby would be played next year under amended rules, which would tend to make the game brighter and more sparkling mere were hearty rounds of cheers when the senior shield was handed to Mr D. M'Cornnck, and the junior flag to Mr F. Moir. The presentation of the third grade trophy was postponed till next week. Mi S. 1 1 . M’Phail and_ responded to by Messrs English (Association football), A. L. Chappell (amateur athletics), S. G. Holland (hockey) and R. B. Ward (cricket); "The Keferees,'’ proposed by Mr E. Hasell and responded to by Mr B. Watson, of Dunedin, and Mr G. Gray; “Tho Old-timers,” proposed by Mr S. F. Wilson and responded to by Messrs J. R. Evans, G. Scott and (1. H. Mason; "Losing Teams,” proposed by Mr C. S', M'Cnlly and responded to by Mr J. Jackson (’Varsity). SCHOOL MATCH AT KAIAPOI. A Rugby match was played at Kaiapoi on Saturday afternoon between- teams from tho Kaiapoi School and Lyttelton West School. Tho result was a draw, each side scoring o points. THE ASSOCIATION GAME. SOUTH ISLAND TEAM. The team to represent the South Island against the North Island on Saturday, at English Park, is as follows; Goal G. Swift (Canterbury); right back, W.
