FIGHT THE FAMINE CONCERT.
Good artist's, a good programme and a good causa combined to attract a largo attendance to the Choral Hall on Saturday evening when the Harbour Lights Girls’ Club (under tne presidency of Mrs Holmes) gave a concerl on behalf of tho “ Fight the Famine" 1 und. Tho .various items were greatly appreciated and applauded, and manv floral tributes rewarded the lady performers Ths vocalists included Madams Johnston-Topliss (soprano), Miss Kathleen Garven (contralto), Mibb Edna Miles and Messrs George March (baritone),_ F. C. Penfold (baritone) W JJ Prescott (tenor) and the Lyric Four’ (Mprsto S. 3 Morgan H. Blakeley. K. More Zd E J. Johnson). Mr V/. Fredericks’s humorous items were well received. Mrs G'. M. Lorimer was the solo pianist, and Mrs j’ King and Misses Hayward. Lorimer and Hudson were the accompanists. Enthusiasm was not lacking and both from musical and fmancial viewpoints tho ooncert was a success Mr H. Hlakeky was responsible. for j,hu direction ol the entertainment.
