(.Received September 20, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, September 19. llie Homo Office, replying to a correspondent, states that there is no ionndation for the statements in tho American Press regarding the prison treatment of the Lord Mayor of Cork. Uroni the first he has been allowed the privileges granted political prisoners, and never, has been required to wear prison clothes. Since he Ims, by refusing food, reduced himself to a state of weakness, he remains in bed in a large room in tho hospital, and enjoys tho best medica] attention. Trained nurses are with him day and night, and everything possible has, been done for his comfort. Excellent food, suitable for bis enfeebled condition, is kept constantly at his bedside, and the nurses have done their beat to induce him to partake of this.
