IN THE WEST INDIES. Bt Telogrn ph—PiMß Association—Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association, PORT OF SPAIN, September ife. H.M.S. Renown arrived in Trinidad to-day. 'Die Prince of Wales is in excellent health. Lauding in the forenoon, he went through every part of the programme of ceremoilial engagements in terribly hot weather. He will have a quiet day to-morrow, and leave on Sunday night for Demefara on board the light cruiser Calcutta. He will rejoin the Renown after a round of visits among the West Indies Islands, afterwards proceeding to Portsmouth. lu the course of a speech at a Government House dinner the Primie returned to the subject of _ the British West Indies. He said,’ in reference to the suggestion that the British Empire might be willing tp' part with one or more of the West Indies Islands to a foreign Power, that “ I should like to say here what I said in Bafbadoes in March, that British subjects are not for sale. The King and all of Us in the Old Country have very much at heart the welfare of Trinidad and of all’the British West Indies, as of all other British possessions.” He was glad to see that the people Of Trinidad were making the most of the splendid resources of the island and were developing them vigorously.
